About the Artist
For over 22 years Award Winning Photographer Sean M. Dowie has photographed
Florida’s well-known and not so well known places, occasionally slipping away to some
nearby Islands. Originally from the Midwest, Sean grew up in South Florida, mainly in
the Keys. From that time on Sean developed his need for Nature and saw the inherent
beauty & purpose within it. He spent his youth fishing and scuba diving and was often
found traveling the back roads of the Everglades, camera in hand, in search of
unknown places and hidden treasures. While attending the Art Institute of Ft.
Lauderdale to refine his photographic abilities Sean became intrigued with large format
photography.
In his own words;
“The detailed textures, the subtle changes of light from scene to scene that one
can reveal on Large Format has enabled me to show the Florida’s landscape in
all its glory.”
Sean works as a professional freelance photographer for a variety of publications. His
credits include Natures Best, Travel & Leisure, Audubon, Coastal Living, Travel Florida
highways, Florida Living and Outdoor Photographer, to name but a few. Sean’s work is
exhibited in galleries, museums and corporate and private collections across the
country.
You can find Sean Dowie on the Art Show Circuit. When he is not traveling you can
view his work and meet the photographer himself at his own Windmill Gallery atop the
scenic Orange Lake Overlook on US 441 in McIntosh, Florida, where he resides.
Mr. Dowie is on the board of Directors of Friends of the Lower Suwannee and Cedar
Keys Refuge; graduated from the Master Naturalist Program at the University of
Florida; and serves as Director of Photography & Chief Photographer for Florida’s
Eden, a non-profit organization committed to preserving our natural environment and
building a sustainable future for North Florida.
In his own words;
"Enjoy and respect what you see, for it is ours to pass on to the generations yet
to come and our doings that will be remembered.”

My Heart Soars
"The beauty of the trees, the softness of the air,
The fragrance of the grass speaks to me.
The summit of the mountain, the thunder of the sky,
The rhythm of the sea, speaks to me.
The faintness of the stars, the freshness of the morning,
the dewdrop on the flower, speaks to me.
The strength of the fire, the taste of salmon, the trail of the sun,
and the life that never goes away, they speak to me
And my heart soars,"
